Cellophane is the simple name give to cellulose film, lined with PP. The Cellophane Film is made from wood pulp and cotton fibres (yes, cotton fibres!). They are made from renewable & natural resources and will biodegrade making Cellophane Bags a great eco-friendly option. All our cello bags are manufactured in the UK and undergo strenuous quality control checks, making sure that they meet all European Standards.

We use three different thickness of Cellophane film to make our bags, 25 microns / 100 Gauge, 30 microns / 120 Gauge and 40 microns / 160 Gauge.

Cellophane Bags are ideal for small companies or those who are packing products in low volumes. The bags that we supply are made using folded bottom seal and side gussets, and can be custom printed subject to a minimum order. If you require a size not shown we are able to custom make the bags, to your specification, subject to a minimum order.

Cellophane can also be used as a base film in laminates as it has very high clarity. It can often be used to replace polypropylene films for packaging spices or scented products, where certain organic chemicals may react with oil base films such as poly propylene.

As Cellophane Bags are coated with PVDC, that have excellent barrier properties are food safe they are most commonly used in wrapping food stuffs, from biscuits, to chocolates to coffee. They are also commonly used for things like candles, teddy bears and other trinkets that you want to make pretty and tie with a bow!

It also has excellent dead-fold characteristics, which means that no matter how you twist and shape it, it will maintain its shape, making it great for use as twist wrap in the confectionery industry.

The reason cello bags stand out from other poly bags is what you’d describe as their “crispy” texture compare to plastic bags. Also, as a result of the material they are made from, they are crystal clear and sparkle in the light, making cello bags ideal if you want to show off your products inside.

Our Cellophane Bags are 95% degradable and compostable in the ground over 2 years. They are a much greener alternative to polyprop bags and polythene packing bags.

The bags are all manufactured in the UK which means the transport carbon footprint is very small in comparison to imported products. It also means we can keep a closer eye on quality control!
